Here is what I learned from my first online class at Hubspot Inbound Marketing University. The class was pretty simple, and covered the basics of blogging. As I have been researching and learning over the past 3 years I have found that the industry continues to change in Social Media, and Online Marketing. Today’s class on Blogging was a great reminder of things learned and forgotten, and a few good tips to practice!
What I took away from the session today, was I needed a blog makeover—as you can see I have cleaned up local2social and added a few new tricks! Be sure to check out the Recommended Blogs located on the bottom right hand side!
Mack Collier, one of the professors today, shared with the class that having too many sidebars can become distracting and may cause your readers to quickly leave your site! So, I took note and eliminated any unneeded gadgets! I must say, I enjoy looking
at my blog more now than before, I hope you do too!
I also learned that companies these days may be hiring the wrong people to write their blogs, and promote their company online. The good news— the professors encouraged business owners to hire PASSIONATE people! I loved this premise. Passionate people portray a more enthusiastic personality both online and offline, plus passionate people are more likely to stick with projects and deadlines. People who are passionate also are more willing learn new trends, and can adapt easily to change in an emerging industry!
Finally, a great reminder for every blogger out there!
KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! –whether you are B2B or B2C you must listen to your audience and be aware of their needs and wants when searching for information online!
Great way to start my 16 hour Inbound Marketing Curriculum. I enjoy listening to the latest podcasts just to see what others are doing to be more successful on their blogs. Thanks again Mack Collier & Ann Handley, of Marketing Profs for a great class!
